I host the course on: Building Your Own Showcase Home. This course includes a complete downloadable package that contains everything a couple needs to be their own contractor. It includes a workbook on all the phases, a schedule and cost spread sheets, tips on dealing with contractors, building officials, choosing a lot, design, etc. Most anything a person would need.
But... it also includes (for no charge) one Saturday a month where people come in to share ideas with each other, get their questions answered by me and other invited contractors, suppliers and subs. We webcast these sessions live for those too far away and anyone can ask "live" questions. These are usually themed around a subject like "what to look for in a subcontractor" and we’ll archive them for later viewing 24/7. We also have a “live” discussion forum for this group over the Internet that I and invited experts are available for on Thursday nights from 8 to 10pm EST.
This allows new people to get in and share an understanding of any subject they need help with. I stay on for two hours answering questions every week. And finally, anyone who has an issue not addressed in the other areas of building can email any questions. I’ll answer them through email mostly and if required, by phone calls. For answers I don't know, I forward the query to an expert in the area asked (like maybe electrical) and get the licensed professional to provide the answer.
